HudsonValley Bears Announce Scott Beneke as Head Coach & General Manager

The Hudson Valley Bears of the Eastern Professional Hockey League have formally announced that Long Island, New York native Scott Beneke has been named the team’s first Head Coach & General Manager. Mr. Beneke is a fifteen year veteran of minor professional hockey who most recently coached the Valley Forge Freedom in the Mid-Atlantic Hockey League.

Hudson Valley Bears Announce First Player Signings

The Hudson Valley Bears have announced their first player signings as they continue to prepare for the start of the 2008-09 EPHL season.

East Haven, Connecticut forward Phil Esposito has agreed to join the Bears organization. A veteran of the ECHL, SHL, UHL, and NEHL, including stops in Johnstown

ROCKHOPPERS COME BACK FOR VICTORY

Tonight at the Essex County Richard J. Codey Arena at South Mountain, the Jersey Rockhoppers (3-2-0-0) defeated the Danbury Mad Hatters (1-4-0-0) 4-2 in come from behind fashion. In their first home game in three weeks, the Rockhoppers wowed the crowd of more than 900 fans on hand Saturday night.

Obi Aduba and Dan Hickman both scored early for the Hatters, giving them a 2-0 advantage. Andrew Rummell added a goal for Jersey in the 2nd period, and Danbury went into the 3rd period with a 2-1 lead.

Things turned around in the 3rd period for the Rockhoppers. Tom Boudreau, Teague Willits-Kelley, and Drew Sanders each scored to lead Jersey to victory. This was the third time this season that the Mad Hatters took a lead into the 3rd period, only to let it slip away in defeat.

The Rockhoppers travel to Danbury on Wednesday November 26th to face the Mad Hatters at 7:30pm at the Danbury Ice Arena in Danbury, CT, before returning home on Saturday November 29th against the Hudson Valley Bears at 7:30pm.
