ROCKHOPPERS LOSE AT DANBURY

Sunday evening at the Danbury Ice Arena in Danbury, CT, the Rockhoppers lost to the Danbury Mad Hatters 4-3 in what was a tightly contested game from start to finish. Danbury struck first when Obi Aduba received a pass in the slot from Erik Kent and put it past goalie Nick Niedert. The teams would go back-and-forth throughout the rest of the first period, which included three fights, but would end with Danbury up 1-0. The Rockhoppers came out firing in the second, and Tom Boudreau found some space under the pad of Derek MacIntyre and put the puck through, tying the game at 1-1 heading into the third period.

The Mad Hatters began the third period with three goals, and held a 4-1 advantage with two minutes to go in the game, but the Rockhoppers would not go without a fight. Alex Hager scored his first goal of the season with just over a minute left to make it a 4-2 game. Just a few seconds later, Hager found Logan Bittle, who put the puck in the back of the net to bring the Rockhoppers within a goal with 43 seconds remaining in regulation. But it would not be enough as Danbury held on for the 4-3 victory.

ROCKHOPPERS BEAT BEARS 4-2

Tonight at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in Poughkeepsie, NY the Jersey Rockhoppers defeated the Hudson Valley Bears 4-2. This was the Bears best performance since their Opening Night win over Danbury, but the Rockhoppers used grit and determination to earn themselves the victory. Hudson Valley got on the board first when Elvis Tominovic scored his first goal of the season. Jersey answered three minutes later when Chris Ferazzoli led Drew Sanders in front of the net to tie the game 1-1. The second period was a test of penalty kill and power play lines as Hudson Valley started the second with a power play goal from Joe Bouchard to take the lead. Then with under 4 minutes left, Kyle Bozoian poked in a rebound to give the Rockhoppers a power play goal of their own, sending the game into the third period tied 3-3. When Phil Esposito went into the box for slashing, the Rockhoppers took advantage. Russell Spence ripped a slapshot from the point, into the back of the net to give the Rockhoppers a lead that they would not relinquish.

ROCKHOPPERS LOSE 4-3

Tonight at the Essex County Richard J. Codey Arena at South Mountain the Brooklyn Aces (16-2-1-0) defeated the Jersey Rockhoppers (9-7-0-0) 4-3. The host Rockhoppers got on the board first, when Kyle Bozoian scored his 11th goal of the season on a pass from Tom Boudreau. The Aces evened the score when Jesse Felten put one in on the power play. Jersey would have the last laugh of the first period however, as Chris Ferazzoli put in a rebound to give Jersey the 2-1 advantage.

Chad Wilcox started the second period with a bang, scoring his 2nd goal of the season to tie the score at 2-2. While Jersey was killing a penalty in the second period, their best penalty killer was in net, in the person of Nick Niedert. Nick made several amazing saves to keep his team in the game, and the score tied. But Brooklyn's offense kept coming, and Eric Frank broke through with the go-ahead goal midway through the second period. Kyle Bozoian added his second of the night to tie the game at 3-3 heading into the third period. That's when reigning EPHL Goaltender of the Week, Eddie Neville, shut down the Rockhoppers offense, holding them scoreless in the game's final frame. After failing to capitalize on several power play chances, CJ Tozzo put home an even-strength game-winner with less than 5 minutes remaining to secure the win for the Aces. "This was a tough loss," said Head Coach Brian Gratz. "We played well enough to win, but Brooklyn capitalized on the opportunities that they had and we missed a few."

DANBURY BEATS ROCKHOPPERS 4-2

Tuesday night at the Essex County Richard J. Codey Arena at South Mountain, the Jersey Rockhoppers (9-6-0-0) lost in a tightly contested game to the Danbury Mad Hatters (7-8-0-1) 4-2. Both teams were anchored by excellent goaltending. Jersey's Nick Niedert made several spectacular saves in the second period to keep the Rockhoppers in the game, while Danbury's Derek MacIntyre turned away 30-of-32 Rockhopper shot opportunities.

Danbury drew first blood when Igor Karlov scored unassissted midway through the first period. The Rockhoppers answered back when Chris Ferazzoli scored his 12th goal of the season on a pass from Anthony Becker, tying the game at 1-1. After Alex Redmond scored with under two minutes remaining in the first, Danbury ended the period with a 2-1 lead. That's when Niedert and MacIntyre went into a head-to-head showdown for the second period.

With 8 minutes remaining in the period, Danbury's Igor Karlov intercepted a pass in the Rockhopper zone and streaked toward the net, with nobody in front of him. Niedert was able to make a quick save, but lost sight of the rebound as it flew into the air. Nick was facing the opposite direction when the puck landed, but managed to dive across the front of the net to stop the second chance effort, and keep his team within one. After a back-and-forth start to the third period, Russell Spence tied the game for the Rockhoppers by putting in a rebound from a Joe Welgos slapshot. But Danbury would answer with a power play and an empty-netter to pull away for the win.
